Configure Outgoing Mail Server for Google Apps in Vtiger CRM 7

This article provides you step by step method to successfully configure outgoing mail server for Google Apps in your Vtiger 7.

The general error you will find while adding an outgoing Email Server” is “mail could not be sent to the admin user. please check the admin emailid/server settings”. This error could be a pain in the ass for several Vtiger users as it is required for many core functions of Vtiger CRM, i.e. Workflows etc.

I went on several blogs and official forums to solve this problem and did it successfully for my client. Here is how I did it. Please follow the steps.

Step 1:

Login to Vtiger CRM and Navigate to Home>Configuration>Outgoing Mail Server

tls://smtp.gmail.com:587
(Your complete email address)
(Your email password)
 (Leave it Blank)
Yes

Step 2:

The chances are it won’t work and send you the error once again. The error will look like “mail could not be sent to the admin user. please check the admin emailid/server settings”. The higher probability is that Google has block this suspicious sign in attempt that was the reason being this error. Check your inbox for any email from Google with the subject “Review blocked sign-in attempt”. The email should look like this.

Step 3:

Click  on “allowing access to less secure apps” which will take you to https://myaccount.google.com/(some random strings). You need to allow this as per the below image.

Step 4:

Repeat Step 1. If it does not work, try again a couple of times. This worked for me and for many other users.

All The Best..!!
